The brief
Ujenzi Teachers Sacco is a fictional savings and credit co-operative for teachers. Its imagined annual report is 60 pages of tables, printed in black and white, with the dividend rate on page 41. Most members only learn the results at the AGM, and the questions there are always the same.
The approach
Answer the members’ questions first. The report opens with a two-page summary built around what members actually ask: what dividend and interest rebate will I get, is my money safe, how fast are loans processed, and what’s changing next year.
Charts with one point each. Five years of deposits, loans and dividends, each as a simple chart with the point written as its title, so it reads correctly even when photocopied in black and white.
The full statements stay. The audited financial statements are kept complete at the back, typeset for legibility, because regulators and careful members need them.
